DANN HUFF CHOOSES 3RD POWER

3rd Power founder, Jamie Scott, met with Dann Huff and Hunter Hayes during lunch several months ago while they were taking a break from recording Hunter's new album. Dann and Hunter reported that they had recorded extensively using the American Dream and SwitchBACK312 cabinet. Dann was so pleased with how the gear performed that he placed an order for an American Dream for himself. He also requested a demo on the British Dream and a SwitchBACK212 cabinet. After auditioning these units, Dann agreed to purchase them as well.

Over the past few months, Dann has been recording non-stop with 3P being his go-to guitar amps. Jamie recently followed up with Dann to see how things were going and Dann expressed that he couldn't be happier. He also came up with a quote to share with our dealers, customers and future customers:

"Jamie,

For what I do, the 3rd Power difference is how high-quality the tone is and then how BIG the sweet spot is... I simply cannot get a bad sound out of your amps!

-Dann"

Much love and respect for you Dann - I am humbled with gratitude to have you on board, Jamie

3RD POWER INTRODUCES NEW LOGO

April, 2013 marks our 3rd anniversary. When we began, the goal wasn't to be "innovative." The goal was to create guitar amplifiers that delivered a refined, mastered record sound quality. It was this goal that literally "forced" us to become innovative. As a result, we've developed patent-pending circuitry and enclosure designs in order to achieve our goal.

IT'S ABOUT YOU:
Who did we do all of this for? You, the performing and recording guitarist and music professional. If it was about us we'd have named the company after our founder, Jamie Scott. And while "Scott Amplification" might not look or sound too shabby, it just didn't resonate with our vision of creating a music company that inspires musicians to be their best and have the best sounding tools possible.

3RD POWER:
The name is multi-dimensional. It conveys energy, movement and power to create extraordinary music.

Over these past few years, we've earned our reputation of impeccable sound quality and unmatched customer service. Our new logo is a reflection of our commitment to serve the music community with passion and a commitment to be the finest music company possible.

"I'm grateful for the many people who are a part of the magic and who've given us an opportunity to share what we do. The loyalty you have shown is humbling and inspiring. If you're just discovering 3P, we look forward to the opportunity to work with you to achieve your ultimate tone..."
- Jamie Scott, Designer/CEO

3RD POWER ENHANCES 2013 BRITISH DREAM AMPLIFIER

3RD POWER, one of the hottest amp companies on the market, has announced that the 2013 British Dream amplifier is now shipping with a hot new feature, Orange Glow. The Orange Glow feature is an all tube gain mode that increases the saturation of overdriven guitar tones. The new British Dream features simple front-panel access to both the original Vintage Gain Mode and the new, higher gain Orange Glow mode. With Orange Glow active, your guitar tone becomes more expressive and overdriven with pure tube saturation without relying on clipping diodes, often associated with fuzzy and harsh distortion effects. HybridMASTER has been updated to make playing guitar at lower volume levels more satisfying than ever. The redefined ’59 AC channel has been updated to deliver a higher level of touch-sensitivity, chime and growl than ever before.

“We created the British Dream amplifier out of a love and passion for iconic British guitar tones of the late ‘50s, 60s and beyond. With this new version, we went back to our root inspiration – to bring our favorite AC30 together with our favorite Plexi while keeping your musical inspiration at the forefront,” said Jamie Scott, 3RD POWER’s designer and CEO. “The Orange Glow feature brings a new level of high-octane overdriven guitar tone and places it at your fingertips. Plus we’ve added great new enhancements to the AC channel and HybridMASTER that make performing, recording and even low-volume jamming more satisfying.”

The updated British Dream places the new Orange Glow gain mode at your fingertips by way of a push/pull volume control on the ’68 Plexi channel. With its updated EF86 pentode preamp tube design, the new ’59 AC channel delivers more vintage sounding “voxy” chime and swirl than ever before. The enhanced HybridMASTER functionality expands the range of volume attenuation so that even bedroom jam sessions are more fun and inspiring without disturbing the neighbors.

The British Dream is two-channel all tube guitar amplifier that features 3RD POWER’s sonic refinements of classic British amplifiers; the ’59 Vox AC30 and the ’68 Marshall Plexi. The British Dream is available both as a 112 combo amplifier and as a amp head only. Both versions feature 3RD POWER’s patent-pending HybridMASTER volume management technology. The combo version features 3RD POWER’s proprietary SwitchBACK™ speaker chamber technology for a refined frequency response and wider sound dispersion.

Even with all of these design enhancements, British Dream pricing will remain steady at $2499 for the head version, $2899 for a 112 combo loaded with an Eminence Legend speaker, and $3099 for a 112 combo loaded with a Celestion Alnico Gold.

There is an upgrade path available for current owners. Customers are encouraged to contact the factory directly for more information.

3RD POWER ENHANCES BRITISH-VOICED DREAM SOLOS

3RD POWER, one of the hottest amp companies on the market, has announced it has updated two Dream Solo amplifiers from the popular Dream Solo™ Series hand-wired amplifier line. The new Dream Solo 4 is the versatile Plexi-voiced unit now featuring “Orange Glow”, an all tube higher gain mode. The new Dream Solo 3 is the AC30-voiced that has been completely re-imagined to deliver every ounce of classis British AC chime and growl possible out of a 6V6 output tube platform.

The updated Dream Solo 4 amplifier is now shipping with a hot new feature, Orange Glow. The Orange Glow feature is an all tube gain mode that increases the saturation of overdriven guitar tones. The new Dream Solo 4 features simple front-panel access to both the original Vintage Gain Mode and the new, higher gain Orange Glow mode. With Orange Glow active, your guitar tone becomes more expressive and overdriven with pure tube saturation without relying on clipping diodes, often associated with fuzzy and harsh distortion effects.

Built on a 6V6 output tube platform, the updated Dream Solo 3 amplifier is now shipping with a completely re-imagined design. The redefined ’59 AC30-voice unit has been updated in every way including a new preamp, power amp, and power supply to deliver more touch-sensitivity, chime and growl than ever before from a 6V6 based amplifier. Typical AC30-voiced amplifiers rely on EL84 output tubes, a tube well known for it’s glassy mid-range edge and compression. The EL84 is also known to be a somewhat finicky tube too as they are often the source of noise issues due to microphonics as well as operational issues and instabilities associated with high heat. We chose the 6V6 to solve these problems and the updated Dream Solo 3 delivers all the rich tone, chime and creamy compression you’d expect from an AC30-voiced amp without the hassle of EL84s.

Both models feature an enhanced HybridMASTER™ functionality that expands the range of volume attenuation so that even bedroom jam sessions are more fun and inspiring without disturbing the neighbors.

The Dream Solo Series comprises of four single-channel all tube guitar amplifiers featuring 3RD POWER’s sonic refinements of classic British and American amplifiers. Dream Solos are available either as a 112 combo amplifier and as a amp head only. All models feature 3RD POWER’s patent-pending HybridMASTER volume management technology. The combo version features 3RD POWER’s proprietary FlexCAB™ speaker chamber technology for a refined frequency response and wider sound dispersion.

Even with all of these design enhancements, Dream Solo pricing will remain steady at $1699 for the head version, $1999 for a 112 combo loaded with an Eminence Legend speaker.

There is an upgrade path available for current owners. Customers are encouraged to contact the factory directly for more information.

VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE REVIEWS NEW 3RD POWER GEAR

Excerpt: "The 3rd Power Dream Solo amps are fantastic tools and they arrive ready to be played. Scott’s passion for tone, attention to detail, and experience as a player have resulted in a desire to build amps that not only sound like the amps of yesteryear, but are dialed in to work well in modern band and gigging contexts, thus features like the HybridMaster volume control, the Switchback cab, and the TubeMIX feature that subtly compresses tone to give Dream amps their signature “fader up” quality. These features add up to vintage hues sculpted to please the most inicky soundman, producer, or tone aicionado." – Zac Childs

Free HybridMASTER™ Updates for ALL 3RD POWER Owners
We're celebrating our 3 year anniversary with a special promotion for our existing customers. June through September 2012, we will update your American or British Dream for FREE! We normally charge $299 per amp. The only thing you're responsible for is paying the shipping and insurance both ways.

Don't know what HybridMASTER™ is? Click here to find out more about our breakthrough volume management technology that lets you attenuate the volume without sacrificing your tone.

Other Updates:
Most of our customers are aware of our new amp series, the Dream Solos. These 22 watt single channel amplifiers were designed to cover the lower wattage needs of guitar players. As a result, beginning April 1, 2012, we increased the output section performance of the bigger American and British Dream amplifiers to enhance the headroom and make both amplifiers even more versatile. They are now sitting at about 38 watts each. Additionally, the Blackface channel on the American Dream is improved. The EF86 equipped '59AC channel on the British Dream is improved. If your unit predates this period, we'll update your amp at N/C too! We'll check your tubes, adjust bias as necessary. We will advise you if your amp needs any tubes replaced. In such cases, you'll be responsible for the cost of the tube. The net/net: your amp will come back to you sounding significantly better and offering greater versatility.

What's the Catch?
There's no catch. We'll update your amp (even if you're not the original owner) at N/C. You are responsible for freight and insurance both ways. You are responsible for any tubes that need replacing.

What's the Catch: - Part Two:
Visibility. Relationship development. Outreach. Networking. These are the things we're interested in developing with our customers. Players that already work closely with us already know and appreciate how well they are treated. We believe that once potential customers know how good our customers have it they will consider 3P for their next amplifier purchase.

How to Get Your American or British Dream Amp Updated:
Send an email directly to us at (info at 3rd power dot com) with your contact information and we'll schedule your update. Ship your amp as instructed in our direct communication. We will perform your updates within 72 hours and get your amp shipped right back out to you.

THE TONEQUEST REPORT INTERVIEWS AND REVIEWS 3RD POWER

Excerpt from the interview with Jamie Scott, 3RD POWER founder and designer:
TQR: What influenced your decision to avoid using a tube rectifier?

JS: For starters, I didn’t want to compromise my operating voltages in the various circuits and have them dependant of the vagaries of one more vacuum tube. Another thing I’m focusing on is the time-constant associated with sag or compression, which comes from my recording studio experience. Perhaps it’s a control thing, but I personally prefer the time-constant of compression to remain consistent no matter what guitar I’m playing, how hard I’m playing or where I’m playing on the neck.

Excerpt from the British Dream 112 review:
"... Purists and owners of vintage amps will thrive on the full power voice of the British Dream. At 30 watts, volume is still quite manageable and easy on the ears, but the capabilities of the Hybrid Master and pentode/triode modes in both channels offer a diverse range of volume and distortion levels from an elegantly overbuilt 57 pound combo that is exceptionally useful for stage, studio and home use." -TQ

3RD POWER SET TO LAUNCH STYLISH SWITCHBACK™ 112 CABINET AT SUMMER NAMM 2011 IN NASHVILLE, TN

Following the launch of the groundbreaking British Dream amplifier and Switchback 312 cabinet at NAMM 2011, 3RD POWER Amplification LLC is launching another state-of-art guitar speaker cabinet. In keeping with the "Dream" and “Switchback” concepts, triangle speaker chamber contained within a rectangle outer shell, this new compact 112 cabinet attains a similar sonic experience typically associated with 212 designs in a cabinet that’s 35 percent more compact, all with an enhanced clarity via a wider, smoother frequency response and dispersion pattern than any other single 12” cabinet currently on the market.

“Artists and studio engineers have requested that we create the Switchback 112 to better facilitate recording and live performance setups. It seems more common these days for the amplifier head and the cabinet to be in separate locations whether recording or performing live,” notes 3RD Power founder and designer Jamie Scott. “We’ve had great success with our cabinets being used on major tours by players like James Richardson (MGMT), Patrick Matera (Katy Perry), Korel Tunador (The Goo Goo Dolls) and others. We’ve also had great success in the studio with major producers and engineers like Sylvia Massy, Justin Neibank, Paul Ebersold and others. The light-weight Switchback 112 gives professionals such as these the type of sonic performance typically associated with larger cabinet designs, but with a refined clarity and tone that really translates well on recordings, in the PA as well as when monitored by the artist via in-ear monitoring systems.

3RD POWER ANNOUNCES AB CHANNEL SELECTOR PEDAL TO LAUNCH AT SUMMER NAMM 2011 IN NASHVILLE, TN

Bright red and blue LED’s display the selected status of the audio signal flow. Primarily designed as a means of channel switching its Dream Series amplifiers, the unit functions equally well when deployed as a switching device to select between two different effects setups, amplifiers or switch between an amp and tuner.

“Artists have expressed the desire to deploy our Dream Series amplifiers with channel switching functionality,” notes 3RD Power founder and designer Jamie Scott. “We developed the AB Channel Selector specifically to unlock this functionality while staying true to the hand-wired direct signal path of these amps without the use of any IC chips, relays or other electronic switches.”

PREMIER GUITAR REVIEWS THE NEW BRITISH DREAM 112 COMBO

Excerpt: "As the owner of a ’64 Top Boost AC30 and ’68 Plexi, the sounds of these amps are forever burned into my memory. And it was startling to discover just how well the 3rd Power captured so many of the sonic and performance characteristics of both classics."

"Though the British Dream’s ’68 Plexi channel has a very distinct, Marshall-like voice, it still enables the character of individual guitars to come through loud and clear. Strats exhibited their signature spank, and P-90s barked mean and raw. It’s a testament to good amp design when guitars retain their personality and character, and the British Dream walks the line between transparency and authority with aplomb."

"With the British Dream, 3rd Power gives Vox and Marshall lovers a killer one-two punch in an amp that’s considerably more compact and manageable than either of those legends. The tones are amazingly authentic, if slightly more modern at times, and the response is startlingly spot on for a 1x12 combo attempting to approximate the sound of much more monstrous cabinets. The addition of the proprietary cabinet design and removable back panel gives you both open- and closed-back sounds in one package."

3RD POWER "INVADES" WINTER NAMM WITH NEW BRITISH DREAM 112 COMBO AMPLIFIER

One of the hottest new amp companies on the market, 3RD POWER Amplification, has announced it will bring another “Dream” model to market at the upcoming NAMM Show in Anaheim. The new British Dream™ is a 1x12 combo hand-wired valve amplifier that delivers iconic guitar tones inspired by two British classics, the 1959 AC30 and the 1968 Marshall Plexi. A sister model to the American Dream™ introduced to great acclaim this past summer, the new British Dream uses the same tubes found in the originals, but combines them with designer Jamie Scott’s innovative circuit design and cabinet structure to create a thoroughly modern combo amp that provides classic tube tone without compromise.

“The British Dream offers the iconic tones of two classic tube amps,” explains 3RD POWER founder and amp designer Jamie Scott. “The 1959 AC30 is the rarest of Vox amps, while the Marshall Plexi is the amp made famous by artists like Pete Townshend and Jimi Hendrix. Since they both use the same output tubes, we were able to create a design the recreates both iconic tone palettes in a single amp that sounds great and is fun to play. Like the American Dream we introduced this summer, we expect the British Dream to find a home both with musicians on tour and engineer/producers in the studio.”

3RD POWER EXPANDS SWITCHBACK SERIES WITH SB312

3RD POWER Amplification, makers of unique tone solutions for electric guitarists, has announced the introduction of a speaker cabinet, the Switchback™ 312. Though rectangular in shape, the Switchback 312 utilizes an internal triangular chamber to house three 12-inch Celestion Vintage 30 speakers, attaining the same output volume as typical 4x12 designs in a cabinet that’s 20 percent more compact.

The Switchback 312 also employs 3RD POWER’s signature Switchback porting system on the back of the cabinet. A triangular port behind the speaker cluster gives the user a choice closed- or open-back sound, effectively doubling the tonal possibilities of whichever amplifier the cabinet is paired with.

“The key to eliminating standing waves in cabinet design is to avoid parallel surfaces,” notes 3RD POWER founder and designer Jamie Scott. “We’ve had great success with our HLH 312 cabinet being used on major tours by players like Simon Townshend, Steve Miller and others. The Switchback 312 takes that same triangular form factor and houses it in a rectangular outer cabinet for ease of use. It gives you every bit of volume that a 412 typically provides, but with amazing clarity and tone.”

3RD POWER AGAIN CHOSEN BY HARD ROCK CAFE, NASHVILLE

3RD POWER Amplification is proud to announce that Hard Rock Cafe, Nashville once again chooses 3RD POWER and the American Dream 112 Combo. This is the second time that HRC has selected 3RD POWER for it's guitar amplification requirements.

Staff FOH engineer, Shawn Connelly explains, "A large portion of the acts we have performing here at the Hard Rock have more than one guitarist which translated into needing an additional amplifier. I discussed this with our GM, Jim McGonagle, and he agreed. I explained to Jamie on the phone (Jamie Scott, 3P founder) that we weren't going to compromise our sound quality but we needed another amp with a smaller footprint because space was limited on the other side of the stage. Jamie brought by their new combo amp (the American Dream) which has met our needs perfectly. The blend of this amp and it's cleaner/twangier palate of tones goes perfectly with the more rock/blues tones of their HD100. I couldn't be happier!"

Jack Pearson takes a solo on the new American Dream 112 Combo during a recent performance at the Hard Rock Cafe, Nashville.

O'Connor explains, "When we rehearsed for the tour Michael was on a different setup. Then the Nashville flood hit and he lost most of his gear. 3RD POWER loaned him a rig and after the first show he ended up just purchasing the rig."

On what his job is like every night getting Michael's tone to come through the PA, O'Connor adds, "The 3RD POWER rig delivers a guitar sound that I simply mic up, set the gain structure and push the fader up. I don't have to do anything else to it - it's just that good."

PREMIER GUITAR REVIEWS THE NEW AMERICAN DREAM 112 COMBO

Excerpt: "3rd Power Amplification may be a fairly new name in the amp business, but don’t mistake that for inexperience. Designer Jamie Scott has chased perfect tone for several decades, a quest that began in his early days as the original (and current) guitarist for the San Francisco metal band, Vain. Debuting at the 2010 summer NAMM show in Nashville, the handwired, Fender Deluxe-inspired American Dream is the second amp to be released from 3rd Power."

"...Moving to the Blackface channel gave me more headroom and clarity, making the American Dream perfect for mating with pedals. The combo revealed the full character of just about every pedal I threw in front of it. If you’re a guitarist who favors pedal textures, this amp makes a perfect blank slate."

"...From the first chord, the American Dream was bold, chimey, clear, and powerful. The response of the amp felt like an extension of my nervous system. It was both immediate and springy, giving me the feeling of the guitar being played back from the amp. Typically when I play with this clean of a setting, my amp feels a little too unforgiving, but in this case it was positively inspiring. At full volume, the American Dream gave way to a beautiful, blooming gain that was warm, detailed, and willing to get rude with a little force from my right hand."

3RD POWER DEBUTS AMERICAN DREAM™ 112 COMBO AMP AT SUMMER NAMM

3RD POWER Amplification returns to Summer NAMM in Nashville (Booth 1627) with a new combo tube amp, the American Dream™. Like all 3RD Power products, the rig is designed and built by company founder Jamie Scott, a rock guitarist and inventor on a lifelong quest for tone. The new American Dream brings 3RD POWER’s patent-pending circuitry and cabinet design technology within reach of gigging musicians everywhere.

The new American Dream is a tube combo design featuring a switchable-power tube amp paired with a single 12-inch Celestion G12H loudspeaker (Alnico Gold available as an upgrade). Selectable between 22 and 10 Watts of output, the amp section features a two-stage preamp using 12AX7 tubes, with 6L6 tubes on the output stage.

The two-channel American Dream is voiced to achieve the tones of the classic ’62 brownface Deluxe on channel one, and the ’65 blackface Deluxe on channel two. Each channel features a switchable Bright circuit, and there’s also a global Presence control for final sweetening. "You can think of the American Dream as basically two amps in one," says Scott. He continues, " The American Dream delivers rich vintage tone without the 'drama' associated with owning and maintaining an old amplifier."

The cabinet design incorporates 3RD POWER’s innovative triangular speaker chamber – an internal enclosure that eliminates the standing waves inherent in conventional parallel-side designs. For additional variety of tone, the back panel sports a removable Switchback™ port to enable open-back operation and even wider tonal possibilities.

HARD ROCK CAFE, NASHVILLE SELECTS 3RD POWER

3RD POWER Amplification is proud to announce that Hard Rock Cafe, Nashville, has selected 3RD Power as the 'house' brand for backline guitar amplification. According to Hard Rock Cafe Nashville's general manager, Jim McGonagle, "The 3RD POWER amp set up is perfect for the diverse artist performances we have here day in and day out. With the level of talent we see here in Nashville, nothing short of outstanding gear would do."

Staff FOH engineer, Shawn Connelly adds, "The artists that perform our venue range in styles from a major artists to up-and-coming songwriters. Quite often, there's little time to sound check gear so we emphasized our need for an amplifier that would accommodate a wide variety of playing styles, that could perform well whether run direct or frontloaded with a player's pedal-board. The 3RD POWER rig has been an absolutely fantastic addition to our overall sound system."

According to 3RD POWER founder, Jamie Scott, "I visited the location and spoke with Jim and Shawn about their needs. We went with the HLH HD100 Amplifier and Switchback™ 212 because of it's versatility and ability to sound great at any volume."

Connelly adds, "I consistently have guitar players coming up to me after the show saying that they've never heard their guitar sound so good. With 3RD POWER, it makes my job so much easier when there's one less thing to worry about and in Nashville, you can't settle for mediocre guitar tone!"

3RD POWER UNLEASHES SV3015 RACK-MOUNT TUBE AMP AT NAMM

3RD POWER Amplification, the Nashville-based start-up company known for its radical HLH100 touring guitar rig, is proud to announce the introduction of its first rack-based system, the SV3015 Stereo Valve Power amplifier. The SV3015 is a 2RU unit featuring four EL34 and three 12AX7 vacuum tubes, with selectable output of 30 or 15 watts of pure tube power. This new amp is equally at home on stage and in the studio, and is the perfect analog complement to a digitally based system. 3RD POWER is committed to debuting the SV3015 at the upcoming NAMM Show.

The SV3015 offers a choice of 15- or 30-watt operation, with each output section independently selectable. Thus, one channel can be set up at 15 watts for overdrive sounds giving more output stage compression and harmonics, with the other providing a clean 30-watt sound with more headroom. The SV3015 design incorporates two distinct gain stages, starting with a clean tube preamp stage, followed by a traditional tube output. Operation is intuitive, with separate Volume, Presence, and “PUSH” controls for both channels. The PUSH function is a 3RD Power innovation that provides low-frequency enhancement for a richer, fuller tonality.

“Basically, the SV3015 takes all the flexibility and tone found in the power amp section of our flagship HD100 tube amps and puts it in a rack-mount design,” notes 3RD Power founder and designer Jamie Scott. “With so many artists now using computer-based and modeling systems, we saw a need for a pure tube design to bring more warmth and classic tone to digitally-based guitar rigs. The SV3015 helps modern guitarists get the best possible tone out their rack-based rigs.”

While the SV3015 is optimized for use as the output stage of a rack-based system, it does have a traditional ¼-inch mono input jack to allow direct plug-in for those who prefer a pure analog tube experience. In addition, each output features a Phase switch, making it possible to match the very different tones of traditional Fender and Marshall style amplifiers – simultaneously! The amp’s 30 watts of tube-based power is perfect for rack-based guitar rigs and is the perfect complement to the company’s new Switchback 212 speaker cabinet.

3RD POWER REVEALS INNOVATIVE SWITCHBACK™212 GUITAR CABINET AT WINTER NAMM 2010

3RD POWER Amplification, which caused a huge stir last year with its innovative triangular cabinet design, has announced a new version with dual 12-inch speakers – with another innovative twist. The Switchback™212 is a rectangular cabinet with a pair of premium Celestion Vintage 30 loudspeakers, each housed in its own triangular chamber, eliminating the standing waves and boxy sound inherent in conventional cabinet design. In addition, the Switchback 212 features removable vent lids on the back, allowing the user to achieve either open- or closed-back operation – or a simultaneous combination of the two.

“The speaker cabinet is the final link in the audio chain for guitarists,” notes 3RD Power founder and designer Jamie Scott. An open back makes it easier to achieve tweed-inspired tonality, while a closed back is great for plexi-type tones. With the Switchback 212’s removable vent lids, you can do both.

The Switchback 212 is perfect for use with either of 3RD POWER's tube amplifiers – the hand-wired HD100 classic valve amp, or the new rack-mount SV3015 stereo valve amp. The cabinet handles 120 Watts of mono power (or dual 60 Watt stereo). Impedance is 8 ohms mono/16 ohms stereo. The Switchback 212 measures 29x20.5x14 inches and weighs 62 pounds.

“Probably the biggest single request we got after introducing the HLH312 enclosure last year was for a smaller version of the system,” says Jamie Scott. “Once we found a way to maintain our triangular cabinet shape within a rectangular cabinet, we knew we had something special. And adding the option of either vented or closed-back operation took it to another level. I love playing through this cab!”

MARK BRNICH (FOH) ON TOUR WITH ROGER DALTREY

3RD POWER Amplification, announces the sale of one its first production units to Simon Townshend, guitarist on the current Roger Daltrey tour. According to the tour's FOH sound engineer, Mark Brnich of 8TH Day Sound, Townshend was using a different amp during rehearsals. "We only did about 10 days rehearsal, and this is the first time I've worked with him as an engineer," states Brnich. "During the rehearsal, I was in a completely separate room, so I'm not even sure what he was using. But the 3RD POWER rig definitely sounds better. It's go more balls to it, more bite. It's fatter sounding."

While the HLH100 is designed for a three-channel "wet-dry-wet" output, Brnich's setup for Townshend's guitar uses two, with one channel for clean signal and one for effects. "It's just because that's the way the stage was patched for the other amp and I just decided to leave it that way," explains Mark Brnich. "But if I started over, I probably would use 3 channels for it." Brnich has no trouble bringing Townshend's tone to the audience. "I don't really have to EQ it at all," he notes. "He's pretty well flat. I've only got some low-end rolled off - a high-pass filter at about 130 Hz, and that's it. And it sounds great."

I certainly would love to own one of these myself!”

3RD POWER AMPLIFICATION DEBUTS AT SUMMER NAMM 2009 IN NASHVILLE, TN

Innovative new guitar amplifier company, 3RD POWER, debuts at Summer NAMM in Nashville, TN. The first product release is the HLH Series consisting of the High Definition HD100 - a 100w all-tube handwired amplifier and the 312 Extension Speaker Cabinet. Both products feature patent-pending designs to create and deliver a sound quality that is best described as 'mastered' or 'fader up'. This is due to the point-source configuration and triangular speaker chamber of the 312 cabinet as well as the proprietary tube circuitry of the HD100 amplifier.

25 years in the making, 3RD POWER's technology was developed by Jamie Scott, a professional musician and industry veteran formerly with Sennheiser USA and X2 Digital Wireless. Scott set out to create a solution to the age-old problems associated with guitar amps: harsh, beamy sound that rarely delivered live the high-quality tones of mastered recordings. As Scott describes it, " I had longed for a live guitar sound that matched the recorded sounds I had achieved in the studio not to mention the inspirational guitar tones of my heros. As a recording engineer, I could control the outcome of the finished mix by blending, double tracking, EQ'ing, compressing, etc., but it wasn't that easy live. One day, while I was preparing to mix a live band, I simply threw in a CD of some music I was familiar with just to get a feel for the room. It hit me that if it sounds this good through the PA, I should be able to stick a mic in front of the guitar amp and get the same sound. Thus began my quest for the ultimate tone."

Other solutions have been explored by companies over the years but 3RD POWER is the first to employ a two-pronged approach to CREATE a sonically rich guitar sound with proprietary tube circuitry and then DELIVER it via a triangle speaker chamber that eliminates the internal interference associated with typical rectangle enclosures. Gone are the harsh beams and inconsistent off-axis phase response associated with typical speaker cabinet technology. Not only does 3RD POWER represent a breakthrough in creating the finest guitar sounds in the studio, 3RD POWER also represents a breakthrough for professional touring as well as gigging musicians who have desired the ultimate in guitar tone that satisfies everyone from the rest of the band, the production crew and ultimately the audience.
